Breeding and Insemination Conditions*
Our stud is officially recognized as an artificial insemination station in accordance with EU regulations.
All mare owners using our stallions agree to the following conditions. In addition, the covering and insemination terms of the Hanoverian Association apply.
Stallions, especially young stallions used for breeding for the first time, are only entered into Stallion Book I after successfully completing the stallion performance test (HLP). Only then can foals be fully registered. If a stallion does not qualify for entry into Stallion Book I, the breeding association can only issue birth certificates. The breeder bears this risk exclusively.
• The breeding season begins on February 15, 2026, and ends on July 31, 2026.*
• To ensure same-day shipment of semen, orders must be received by 10:00 a.m. at the latest—either by phone or via our website www.hengststation-schult.de. Please use the specific semen order form for the chosen stallion.
The semen order must include the following information (incomplete orders cannot be processed):
• Desired stallion
• Name, full address, and phone number of the mare owner
• Breeding association (including membership number) to which the insemination should be reported
• Exact shipping address
• Mare details (name, life number, pedigree, age, color, markings)
• Name and full address of the veterinarian performing the insemination
• Covering certificates must be submitted to the stallion owner (not the veterinarian) at the beginning of the breeding season. The stud fee is due upon first insemination. All stud fees and boarding costs are subject to 7% VAT.
• International semen shipments are only made against advance payment.
If a stallion becomes temporarily unavailable during the breeding season (e.g. due to competitions, illness, etc.), frozen semen may be used if available, or another stallion from the station may be selected upon request. There is no entitlement to a refund of the stud fee.
Spacious stalls and quality pastures are available for accommodating mares. The daily rate is €14.00 plus VAT for mares, and €17.00 plus VAT for mares with foals. Boarding is at the owner’s risk.
The owner of the mare or horse agrees that our veterinarian may be consulted at their expense if deemed necessary by the stallion owner. These costs will be billed separately. Inseminations are only carried out after follicle monitoring by the station’s contracted veterinarian. Swab tests are required, except for 3-year-old maiden mares and mares with foals.
For mares that did not conceive or lost the pregnancy, half of the previous year’s paid stud fee will be credited, provided the fee was not split and a veterinary certificate is submitted by October 1. Without such certification, no credit can be granted. For mares first inseminated after July 15 of a given year that did not conceive, a 100% stud fee reduction will be granted in the following year. Please note that in this case as well, a veterinary certificate must be submitted by October 1, 2026.
For stallions with split stud fees, there is no entitlement to a refund or credit of the first installment of the insemination fee. If the mare is not pregnant, a corresponding certificate must be submitted by October 1, 2026. Otherwise, the full stud fee becomes due.
Frozen semen may only be used for conventional artificial insemination or embryo transfer. Its use for ICSI or other advanced reproductive techniques is not permitted. If embryo transfer is chosen, this must be declared before the first insemination. Please note that in the case of embryo transfer, the stud fee is due for each successfully implanted embryo. Discounts will be granted for multiple successful flushes. All embryo flushes must be documented. A flushing report (including all flushes, even those without embryo recovery, and details of recipient mares) must be submitted by October 1.
Due to competition commitments, stallions Escaneno, Vjento, or Feinschmecker may be withdrawn from breeding earlier than planned, or the availability of fresh semen may be delayed. We will keep you informed via our website. You are also welcome to contact us in advance to avoid potential shortages.
