ACOREZZO, the son of Arezzo VDL, was a celebrated premium stallion at the Hanoverian licensing of show jumping stallions in 2024 – and was correspondingly sought-after at the subsequent auction. After a tough battle, Richard Vogel and David Will won the bid at 195,000 euros. The fact that these two international championship riders secured this youngster clearly shows how much potential this typey grey horse has – and his genetics speak for themselves.

ACOREZZO was bred by Antonius Schulze-Averdiek from Rosendahl. The premium stallion’s dam is Cornada, a daughter of Cornado I (by Cornet Obolensky), who also comes from the renowned Rosendahl breeding centre. Among other things, she is the half-sister to the licensed stallion Fire and Ice J, the son of For Contest, who is internationally successful up to 1.60 metres under Leonie Böckmann.

Cornada’s dam, VerbPrSt. Cracker Jane, herself highly successful in tests for young riding horses, produced other licensed sons and successful sport horses in addition to Fire and Ice, including the licensed Dominator’s Fire (by Dominator Z), successful up to 1.35 metres under Laurenz Buhl, Eminem J (PB Westphalia) by Ehrentusch, successful up to 1.40 metres under Leonie Böckmann and Eminem J (PB Westphalia) by Leonie Böckmann. Ehrentusch, successful up to 1.40 metres under Claudia Gisler, Enya J by Ehrentusch successful up to 1.40 metres (Huberta Vahle), Knoepfchen by Kulman up to 1.35 metres (Anke Erlei), Do It J by Dust Devil up to 1.25 metres (Antonia Schnabel) and Dancing Inwhite by Dancing Dynamite up to St. Georg (Meike Schmidt).

Acorezzo’s great-granddam, VerbPr.St. Louise J, is the dam of Cornflakes J (by Lados), successful up to 1.40 metres with Friederike Junker.

The mare line has produced many other highly successful show jumpers: Dracon by Dominator Z up to 1.45 metres, Westfalia L by Huracan up to 1.45 metres, Hopkins by Hogwart up to 1.45 metres, La Reine by Astrello up to 1.45 metres, Pilothago’s Wundertüte by Pilothago up to 1.40 metres. Arezzo VDL, the sire of Acorezzo, was victorious in Grand Prix show jumping competitions, including the S***** competitions in Odense, Den Bosch and Helsinki.
Several of his offspring are now also proving themselves at the highest level, including Jean Couture (Nicola Pohl), highly placed in S*****, Harwich VDL, highly placed up to S** under Geir Gulliksen and Juliénas, victorious in S* with Felix Schneider.
At the 2024 Bundeschampionat, his son Birkhof’s Arezzo Man FBW won the gold medal for five-year-old show jumpers.
